Vehicle histories purchased through the VINSmart app are $12.99, for a report containing information supplied by the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS) database, which includes data compiled by participating state Motor Vehicle Agencies, insurance carriers, salvage auctions, and auto recyclers. In addition, with every vehicle history report, VINSmart provides the vehicle value using data from industry-leader NADA (National Automobile Dealers Association). VINSmart is significant to customers and dealers who are looking to purchase used cars. In order to provide customers with convenience, VINSmart s free mobile app lets the user speak the VIN, or take a picture of the vehicle s VIN barcode, instead of manually entering the VIN on a PC or phone. However, manually entering the VIN is also an option.
